Thomas and Saïd go to Assisi, in Umbria. Since the twelfth century, this city is marked by the spirit of one man and one woman who instilled an experience of peace on a universal scale: Francis and Clare from Assisi.
For about thirty years international and inter-religious meetings for peace are held here on a regular basis, gathering religious leaders from all over the world.

In October 1986, Pope John Paul II held the “World Day of Prayer for Peace of Assisi”, the first time such an event had ever occurred. Major religious leaders, such as the Dalai Lama and the Archbishop of Canterbury joined with the Pope to call for peace, unity and interreligious understanding.
